Project Impact
(A component of the Will County Faith-Based Community Outreach Council )

Lighting the Way For A Brighter Tomorrow

Harvey Brooks Motivation & Development Foundation
503 S. Water Street., Joliet, IL 60436

MISSION: To provide counseling, life skills and/or behavior modification programs or other structured intervention and prevention activities to reduce juvenile crime and the number of youth going to prison. The goal is to be a one-stop coordinator of community service hours for the Will County justice system and the faith-based constituents.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE: Project Impact targets first-time youth offenders who have been sentenced by the Will County Justice System. Participants referred by the court must meet eligibility requirements and must abide by a signed agreement and program rules. Participants complete community service hours and participate in academic, mentoring and/or behavior modification programs as an alternative to jail or prison time.

COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS: Community service hours are performed in positive, nurturing environments, supervised by caring mentors and role models. Faith based organizations in cities throughout Will County participate in Project Impact, providing supervision of work assignments, giving individuals the opportunity to give back to their community.

INTAKE & ASSESSMENT: Intake forms can be obtained from the Will County Faith Based Community Outreach Council at 503 S. Water Street, or by calling the Project Impact office at 815-722-0106. The intake process is handled by a trained intake specialist who assesses the client's case history and makes program assignments and assignments for community service hours accordingly.

CONTINUING CARE: To ensure accountability for service hours being performed, there are daily record keeping to prevent any false reporting to the judicial system. Clients must complete their court ordered requirements in a timely and cooperative manner. Signs of alcohol or defiance when performing community hours will warrant immediate contact with proper court authorities.

AFTER CARE: Clients will continue in the program until they have been discharged by the court. After clients have favorably accomplished their community service hours, they are encouraged to come back to volunteer and share how they benefitted from the program(s).
