SCHOLASTIC MOTIVATION & DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

 

After-School Tutoring

 


Mission Statement: Promote scholastic achievement and motivation of area youth.

 

Goals:

  • Build an academic and skill-based partnership with area schools.
  • Help students improve their overall and standardized test scores.
  • Boost students' self-awareness and self esteem..
  • Serve as liaison between the local school district and parents to foster more parental Involvement in students' academic achievements.

Program Description/Components:

  • Individualized, open-ended instructions (Grades K-12)
  • One-on-one instruction where appropriate
  • Computer-related instruction
  • Cooperative learning for motivational activities
  • Disciplined homework procedures
  • Foster teamwork
  • Provide incentives for academic achievement
  • Parent education/training to facilitate carryover of learned strategies in the home
  • Adult supervision of all activities

Program Hours: 4:00-6:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday

Note: The Harvey Brooks Scholastic Development Program is sponsored and structured by

Certified teachers and an instructional designer. The program also provides an avenue for college students and student teachers to observe and/or assist with student activities.

GED & Computer Class

Mission Statement: Promote scholastic achievement and motivation of area youth and adults to complete thier high school diploma.

Goals:

  • Build an academic and skill-based partnership with area schools.
  • Help students prepare to complete GED testing and pass with acceptable scores.
  • Boost students' self-awareness and self esteem..
  • Serve as liaison between the local school district and school counselors to referrals & resources.

Program Description/Components:

  • Individualized, open-ended instructions (Grades K-12)
  • One-on-one instruction where appropriate
  • Computer-related instruction
  • Cooperative learning for motivational activities
  • Disciplined homework procedures
  • Foster teamwork
  • Provide incentives for academic achievement
  • Trained instructors conduct class
  • Adult supervision of all activities

Program Hours: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday and Wednesday
