Success Story:
Romelle Carlisle (Seamstress/Fashion Designer; 815-722-3246 mailto: dblethepleasure@hotmail.com Hello, my name is Romelle Carlisle. I’m a volunteer at the Harvey Brooks Foundation. This is my second year for volunteering.
The Harvey Brooks Foundation has a tremendous organization that involves our future, which is our children. The Foundation provides tutoring, activities, classes and much more for the children in the neighborhood. My children attend after-school tutoring at the Harvey Brooks Foundation Cultural Arts Academy during the school year and the summer reading camp where they receive a free lunch every day during the summer.
The Harvey Brooks Foundation also provides classes for the parents too, such as sewing, which I am familiar with because I’m a graduate. I took sewing classes last year and I had a wonderful teacher – thank you Mr. William Evans.
A special thank you to Harvey Brooks Foundation because now I have started my own sewing business making customized decorative pillows for beds and furniture. I plan to enroll in the next computer class in the fall so that I can learn how to better use software that will enable me to run my business.
